Night Photography Zimbabwe

Bulawayo what a town, I get to call home.  Being pro-active I like to get out and about. There is so much to do surrounding this beautiful town I was born and grew up in.  The oldies at the the bar bemoan the good old days.  I like to create my life and have taken full responibility for all that happens in it.  This Friday night I thought why not head out to Matopos. It is only 30 kilometres from Bulawayo and is a UNESCO World Heritage site, at your doorstep.  Usually astrophotographers shoot without moonlight.  I didn't even bother to check. Heading out with one of my best friends , I had no idea what to expect.  The moonlight helped out wonderfully, giving us enough light to see the granite rocks. The fading sun lit up the background.  What a way to live......under the stars, we are all beings of light after all. To see the full resulting picture visit the 'Nature' secion of my gallery.  I shot this using the Sony a7III and Zeiss Batis 18mm lens.  The dynamic range of this camera is amazing and helps pull back so much light from the shadows in post processing.

Zimbabwe is where I was born and bred. Once it is in your blood, you cannot get Africa out of it.  From Victoria Falls to Binga, Mutare to Harare, Nyanga to the Lowveld, I have seen it all.  Absolutely love the African bush and what it offers.  Photography is such a great medium.  It teaches one to pay attention to the surroundings. To view beauty in what one would normally walk past.  To live in the present and be at one with nature.  Truth be told who would choose to sit at a computer over the African savanaah, in their right mind.

I shoot elephants, cheetah, lion and impalas.  Donkeys to brides I shoot 'em all, summer to fall.  So happy taking pictures its no joke.  Sony cameras are my go to after Canon were slow in the uptake of new technology, I jumped ship.  The autofocus in the new mirrorless cameras is getting really good. Imagine using eye autofocus at f/1.2 on a bride, makes things so much easier.  The new Gmaster lenses are tack sharp.

Whatever and stuff, I am rambling on but if you got this far well done! Hire me, book me, sponsor me.  I advise you to stop reading here.
